Interview with the artist Romina Denaro

M.D: Dear Romina, would you like to tell us about your artistic journey
Career?

Romina Denaro: Everything starts in the family. I often listened to my father and brother play together. One day my dad said to me „pick up the bass and play this rhythm and these notes.” I answered ok.
I played the same thing on time for 45 minutes. When my father finished playing his long guitar solo (he was a jazz musician), he asked me if I wanted to study at the music school where my brother was already studying drums. Of course I said, fine. The trio was Completed! Guitar, bass and drums. This is how my musical journey begins. A passion that becomes work. A difficult career, full of disappointments but equally great emotions in sharing stage with many different cultures. From Africa to Northern Europe and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
M.D.: When did you emigrate to Austria?
Romina Denaro: I moved to Austria in September 2018.

M.d: Do you think that Austria offers a more favorable cultural and artistic environment
than the one in Italy?

Romina Denaro: I don’t think there is a country that offers a better or worse artistic and cultural environment, each country has its music and its environment accordingly. If you’re lucky, you choose where and what the music plays. Austria simply has a different system for supporting artists and culture.
M.D: What inspires you the most when performing music?
Romina Denaro: It was my father
M.D: The old generations educated in the highest spirit of human educationb believes that classical music is the most valuable of all musical genres because it has a therapeutic effect on the human body.
What do you think about this opinion shared only by a selective category of people?

Romina Denaro: I think everyone can choose the music they like to make it precious.
Classical music is a superlative creation, for which I played double bass for many years in various orchestras. Any sound causes vibrations for us in the body and mind. I personally define all music as a magic that saves you by turning negativity into a vibration that regenerates the soul every time you step on stage.
M.d: What is your favorite musical instrument?
Romina Denaro: The coffee filter, I like the sound of it in the morning.
M.D: What was the biggest achievement of your career?
Romina Denaro: The real success of my career is that I had the chance to do it.
M.D: From 2019 you joined the musical group Alle Achtung, which is very famous and appreciated in Austria.
How is the collaboration with this musical group and how important it is
activities did you do together?

Romina Denaro: The collaboration with Alle Achtung is truly incredible. They welcomed me into the band as if we had always played together. Separated by our mother tongue, but united by music. They call us a family band. At first it was very difficult because I was learning German and I didn’t understand any of their dialect. We experienced great emotions from our work.
Together with the band, I won a gold and a platinum record and performed at the most important festivals throughout Austria. I have reached some goals in a short time that sometimes you don’t reach in a whole career. Thank you to our Manager and the Universal Music Austria team. We have big plans for the future and the next album is on the way.
I have worked in Sicily for almost thirty years, but I have never received any similar recognition. I thank all the Sicilian musicians with whom I collaborate and to whom I owe my training. My artistic family was born and lives in Sicily and extended here in Austria. Other Austrian artists also received me with great respect for their projects.
M.D: What do you think is the purpose of human existence from that of a perspective artist?
Romina Denaro: loving everything
M.D: What other passions do you have besides the ones already known?
Romina Denaro: I like being an aunt
